In 1959, SMU awarded him a BS in IE (honors). After receiving an MBA from HBS in 1961, he joined the Harvard faculty as a Research Assistant to Professor Herbert F. Stewart in the "Management of New Enterprises" course. Mr. Richards left HBS to begin a Wall Street career in investment banking and venture capital with the private offices of Harold F. Linder and William T. Golden.
He is the President and CEO of Adrich Corporation which he founded in 1965. The holder of several patents, his implementation of advanced computer techniques in financial and computer businesses is known throughout the world. He began working on computers in 1955 with the Univac I at SMU. He has served as CEO and/or COO for businesses in a variety of high- and low-tech fields.
In 1972, he founded A. R. Associates as an international consulting firm specializing in trade development between the Pacific Rim, North America, and Europe. Today, A. R. Associates consults primarily with the entrepreneur, or top management group, of closely-held businesses. The firm's primary focus is to act as an objective sounding board, or a quasi Board of Directors, for their clients. All of A. R. Associates partners and associates hold MBA degrees and have served as CEOs of public and private business corporations operating throughout the world. The firm is also known for its turn-around consulting activities.
Listed in "Who's Who in the World" and many other reference sources, Mr. Richards also gives seminars on Entrepreneurship, and other business subjects at colleges and universities and before trade associations throughout the world. In addition to starting several businesses from scratch and building them into international organizations, Mr. Richards encouraged many of his employees to become successful entrepreneurs.
A. R. Associates also publishes two newsletters, "Tis Only My Opinion!", a commentary on today's economy and politics, and "On the Road Again", a e-zine looking at crop and market conditions in the U.S.
