This site is dedicated to Bonnie
Our
Dogo Argentino

To introduce myself let me start by saying that my wife and I both are professionals in occupations not related to the K-9 field. Whatever limited breeding we do is carefully planned, to reflect the Original Argentine Standards.

I do all of my research and planning with Barbara Sanders of Howling Acres Kennels. We work independently but have the same respect and mindset where it comes to the Dogo. We have collaborated on many things over the years.

Our Personal Breeding Guideline

All our Dogo's and Litters are FCI, FCPR, & UKC registered

Our household's financial stability is not linked in any way to our kennel; this allows us to selectively breed, without the pressure of paying bills. This also allows us to concentrate on our Dogo's and their new owners. We are a working kennel, and will not be breeding again until the summer of 2002. At that time we will be breeding White Spirit's Sundance, to a female who will be "of age" that summer. At that time all inquires will be reviewed and answered. Until then, please understand our limited time, and our not responding to all inquiries, as we receive 5 to 25 daily.

Relaxing in our backyard

The following is a brief story of our First Argentine Dogo, and her introduction into our family.

Years ago, Fairtex's El Esprituo De Bonnie joined our family unit. "Bonnie" entered into the Family as a companion and possibly, if she grew into the role, a future guardian, of our family, pets, and property. A little over a year after we brought Bonnie home, I lost our devoted guardian Zeb, a wonderful Black Labrador to cancer. Zeb was my tireless companion of 14 years, and mentor to Bonnie for the first year of her life.

Unspoken Thoughts

Due to his illness, Zeb was not able to keep up all his self appointed duties. As he relinquished them, Bonnie stepped in and took over many of his roles. As we watched her grow, and Zeb's life decline, we noticed personality traits of his that Bonnie started exhibiting. Bonnie is named after my godmother who was an amazing, compassionate woman. And just like my godmother, Bonnie never hesitated in picking up the slack as Zeb's condition worsened. Many people say dogs are not capable of compassion, that it is a "Higher Brain Function". Maybe it's really that humans just can't teach it, so of course, a dog couldn't exhibit it all on it's own. During the last few months of Zeb's life, I saw Bonnie show an amazing amount of compassion and attention to him. She continued to do this even as his life made the finale transition from that of quality, to the fine edge of a non-quality life. When that day came, we made the choice of letting Zeb move on in death, as gracefully as he had lived during his wonderful life. When Zeb left, he had his diligent and faithful young student, along with myself, by his side.

Zeb, my best friend 14 Years

It has been years now since Zeb's passing, and Bonnie has continued to integrate herself into the lives of our family. She helps us in our daily routines, and is the source of many of our pleasures. She has matured into the Alpha of the pack, directly under my wife and I.

Soaking up the rays

A few years after we brought Bonnie into our home, my wife and I became involved in Dogo Rescue work. This came about quite unexpectedly, but has been very rewarding. Over the years we have spoken to, met, and worked with many Dogo owners. I have had the opportunity to work with and give referrals to many great breeders in the U.S.A. and Holland.

I am one of the founding member's of "The United States Dogo Argentino Breeders Society". This is a group of breeders dedicated to the promotion and preservation of this wonderful breed. The group as a whole is a resource unit for any Dogo person, and responds to owners whether you bought from the individuals in the group or not.

Dogo's Within Our Home

Bonnie is our personal Dogo, and is always with us, be it on the road or at home. Her son Sundance is our resident male, he will be used for stud work once he proves himself in the field.

Dogo Recreation

Bonnie and Sundance are both runners and usually run 2 to 5 miles at a time. I go along, but on my Twenty-one-speed bicycle. Both Dogo’s love the water and go swimming whenever we are at the lake and no one is around. Bonnie is tenacious in the field, and we are hopeful that Sundance will follow his mothers drives in this area.

Things to Remember

If you are interested in a Dogo, Remember.... Dogo's can be highly complex, which can make them not a dog for every household. They have drives and urges that most would not understand, or be able to deal with. Do yourself and the Dogo's a favor, do research and speak with as many Dogo owners as you can. Make an informed, educated decision!

"WARNING AOL USERS" Many AOL users don't realize their AOL "Mail Controls" are setup to REJECT incoming Internet e-mail. This is done to block junk e-mail. It may be set up to reject all Internet e-mail, or to only ACCEPT e-mail from friends and family or people in their address book. Because of these settings, I have had many AOL e-mails that I cannot respond to. To remedy this problem, contact AOL, or on AOL go to the Keyword Mail Controls. Click on the Setup Mail Controls button. Select the Screen name you are using. Click the Edit button and make the appropriate changes.
