Stone is enjoying his first year of public school. This year he gets to ride the bus too! He is in Kindergarden
this year and one of the top in his class. He's learning to read at an astounding rate - although we do believe that
pre-school gave him a good head start on this. He loves to pick up a book and read it out loud to everyone. He's
also working on spelling & writing - and really does impress us daily.
We're kind of at that awkward stage where he is wanting to be outside all the time after school with his friends.
There are a couple of issues here. First, there are pretty much no other stay-at-home-moms in this neighborhood except
for over the summer (school teachers). So none of Stone's friends are home after school. It's difficult to pack
up all three just to take one somewhere - so we are working on the finer details of that.
We're also at that point where we ask ourselves "when IS it ok for him to play outside on his own?". Backyard?
No biggie. We can see him from the kitchen, Dylan can play with him & there is a fence. Other than that...
well hard to say these days. Again, it's an awkward stage that we're all working on.
Stone is our little budding artist & computer geek. He loves arts & crafts and works with stuff whenever
he gets a chance. He brings home amazing pictures and art projects from school. On the computer, he loves to visit
www.starfall.com which is a site used by the school. It teaches everything from phonics to recycling and he loves learning. He
very much loves his time on the computer, just like the rest of us. I'm sure Dylan & Elizabeth will follow suit
as soon as they are able. Dylan's working on it, and Lizzie is just a bit too young yet.
At 5 years old, Stone is definitely starting to test that little bit of real independence that he has. Guess this
is where the REAL fun starts eh?
