Overview...
On Saturday, July 18th, the Coalition
of Minority Policy Professionals (CoMPP) in conjunction with
the Association
for Public Policy Analysis and Management and The
Georgetown Public Policy Institute sponsored: "The Second
Sloan, Woodrow Wilson Public Policy and International Affairs
National Conference." A follow-up to the 1996 CoMPP Conference,
the all-day conference focused upon the theme of: "Preparing
Communities of Color for the 21st Century: Next Steps, New Challenges
& Strategies."
Hosted by the Graduate
School of Public Affairs, the conference was held at the
University of Maryland at College
Park. Special assistance was provided in organizing the conference
from the Academy for Educational
Development's PPIA Program, Emerging
Leadership Institute , and the National
Congress for Community Economic Development.

The capstone of the day's activities, the Town Hall Forum allowed
conference participants to discuss obstacles and potential strategies
on how "they" as policy professionals and students
of color could foster change in our respective communities.
