Leon “Peeklevel” Peek is Swat the Flea’s bassist, squeeze
boxier, and in-house sound man. He gives generously of his time, his home,
and his magnanimous wealth to the music scene in North Texas in a variety
of ways including:
1: insuring that his friend Mark allways has someone to play with at the
Irish Jam Sessions in Denton.
2: providing exciting breaks from the Old Time HoHum at the Denton Dance
with Hendrix style feedback via his custom built sound system (this Xmas
he hopes to get a rack of Marshalls to better accomplish this)
3: giving nourishment to the famous yet still hungry musicians and their
friends in the North Texas area with his once a month soup kitchen.
Leon plays with the band Squirrelheads in Gravy and therefore is versed
in the Southern traditions of folk music. In addition to that he plays
Irish, Cajun, jazz, and knows the words to just about every song Deborah
won’t sing!! He is very flexible in his musical attitudes and plays
most anything Steve puts in front of him.
Greatly enhancing his artistic environment is the captivating work of his
artist/photographer wife, Lori Rohloff who can be seen from time to time
at dances and sessions with her camera and medieval tripod, insuring that
the moment will be chronicled as a “special” moment. She and
Leon waltz together beautifully whenever Leon can put down his concertina.
