AFTER MIDNIGHT AT THE MOVIES

By Patricia Darrow, Astrologer

Although some may alarm us; dreams can never harm us. It is like escaping into a movie theater in the middle of the night. Everything in your dream is a symbol, and symbols are like safety valves allowing you a way to release stress before it escalates in your physical world. Dreams are also clues to the unconscious.

"Dreams are illustrations from the book your soul is writing about you" by Marsha Norman

There are many kinds of dreams. Some speculate that we are actually performing involuntary astral traveling during our dream time. Some different types of dreaming includes:

Dreams of prediction - usually a prophetic dream forewarning the dreamer of an event to come.

Telepathic dreams - dreams of when another soul, who has passed over, can contact the dreamer. The dream is usually affected by a powerful human emotion such as love or grief.

Nightmares - a disturbing dream that usually warns the dreamer that maybe some of their conscious actions are threatening their well-being. Some people experience nightmares if they overeat before they retire to bed that evening.

Recurrent dreams - This is another disturbing dream because the dreamer has the impression that they must have a special significance. The dreamer usually feels haunted by this re-occuring scenario, until he can work out the issue’s meaning behind it.

Some tips for unraveling your symbols and dreams are:

-After retiring to bed, once in the alpha state, you can state "I will remember my dream".

-When you journal your dreams, always try to recall the colors and feelings in the them.

Make note what the players in the dream were doing.

-Pay particular attention to deceased people in the dreams.

-If the dreams were unusually vivid, they could possibly be precognitive or telepathic dreams.

-Were there any numbers in your dreams? They could be significant of addresses, dates or time. Maybe even a lotto ticket!

-Water represents your emotions and the condition they are in. Is the water clear? Murky? Are you up to your neck in water?

-Snakes can represent frustrated sex life and/or wisdom.

-Some symbolism of colors in the dream world:

blue - spiritual

pink - warmth, love

green - healing, physical

purple - royal, psychic

white - purity, cleansing

-Houses and buildings represent your body

-Vehicles also represent your body

-Dreams about flying usually indicate astral traveling

-If you cannot remember your dreams, this could sometimes indicate depression or a blocking out of problems.

In astrology, dreams are linked with the zodiac sign of Pisces, the 12th house and the planet of Neptune. Here are just a few of some astrological aspects that involve Neptune and dreams:

Mercury/Neptune - makes one susceptible to precognitive dreaming.

Mars/Neptune - gives one the ability to "dream true". If you have this aspect, be very careful not to dwell on the negative, you will make it happen. It gives a talent for bending energies with the emotions and mind.

Jupiter/Neptune - dreams of universal love and envisions good will throughout the world.

Saturn/Neptune - will work hard to fulfill their dreams.

The gemstones that help us recall dreams are Herkimer diamonds, amethysts and moonstones. The herbs that enhance dream work are mugwort, catnip, chamomile and lavender. If you are feeling creative one day, why not make yourself a celestial dream pillow and stuff it with a few of those above mentioned herbs.

In closing, it would be beneficial for everyone to keep a dream journal. If possible, stash a pen and book by your bedside, and always remember to date any entries made in it. So drink a soothing cup of chamomile herbal tea this evening, close your eyes, and…enjoy the show!
