Whether you travel by train or plane, rocket to the moon, or just sit in your big easy chair with a good book - the sky is the limit with the ninth house. When the transiting Sun or Moon transits this house in your chart, you can expand your horizons, experience urges to see the world, and travel physically or mentally. Likewise you can pursue a spiritual quest or otherwise seek answers about truth, meaning and enlightenment. The ninth house stretches the fabric of one’s being either through school or traveling. This is also the house of broad perspective and can indicate all the lessons we learn from living.
This house rules religion, spirituality, higher education, foreign or long-distance travel, internet, astronomy, and publishing. It encompasses journalism, aviation, the legal system and outer space. Add to that, churches, in-laws, shipping, aliens, universities, advertising, organized sports, publicity, optimism and dreams.
The ninth house occupations can vary from teachers, professors, travel agents, pilots, horse jockeys, travelling salesmen, religious clergy, judges and prophets.
The ninth house is cadent, ruled by Jupiter and represented by the sign of Sagittarius. It prepares us for the 10th house desires. These preparations can be made through higher refined education with a view to a prosperous career.
Relative to the Tarot, it resonates to the cards of Wheel of Fortune, Temperance and the 8 of Wands. However, I would like to associate it with the Fool Card who is part of the ultimate journey!
Paint this cadent house purple, add some turquoise gemstones and decorate it with an exotic flair, maybe a little Pier One Imports scattered about. This house also correlates to the number three in Numerology. Nostradamus is a fine example of a ninth house person.
As far as anatomy is concerned, this is the house of hips and thighs(to get you moving) with a little liver thrown in for good measure.
In closing, the condition of the ninth house reveals an individual’s leanings toward the pursuit of truth and the process of acquiring knowledge of what is true in the final analysis of his or her life experience.
So hop into a think-tank, or an airplane, train or ocean liner. Indulge yourself with air-mail or e-mails or just swim to that distant shore…the possibilities are endless!
