
Renton Park Elementary's
New Math Program
The Renton School District has incorporated a new K-5
math program beginning in the 1997/98 school year.
The program is designed to meet the Mathematics
section of the Washington
State Essential Learning Requirements.
These require that the student;
- Uses numbers and computation, measurement, geometry, probability and
statistics, and geometry.
- Solves problems and explains solutions.
- Reasons logically.
- Communicates mathematical ideas and understanding.
- Connects school mathematics to real-life situations.
The resource material selected to prepare our children to meet these
requirements is called 'Quest 2000'.
This mathematics program is from Addison-Wesley
Publishing Company. Some of the differences between the new and previous
math programs are highlighted below.
