This project involved the installation of runway centerline and touchdown zone lights in an existing asphalt and concrete runway that had to remain in use during the duration of the project. All work had to be performed between the hours of 11:00pm and 6:00am. All concrete was "high early" and reached 1500 psi within an hour after it was poured. We in essence had only a 6 hour work window which proved to be more than enough time to install 18 TDZ light bases on some nights and 10 RWCL light bases with 500 feet of trench on others. We used 2 Vermeer earth saws to get the necessary production. Liquidated damages were $12,500 per day and $1,000 per hour that the runway was not made available for aircraft. We finished 10 days before the project deadline. This project was only possible due to the great work of.....
