Fire District 1 is a full service fire department that protects approximately 50 square miles between Seattle and Everett along the Interstate 5 corridor. With a population of 120,000 citizens, we accomplish this task by providing fire, rescue, ems, haz-mat and fire prevention services from 6 fire stations staffed 24 hours a day by the professional firefighters of IAFF Local 1997. We also staff two medic units 24 hours a day to provide advanced life support to our citizens. Battalion Chiefs manage the day to day operations of the six stations as well as command all major incidents within the district. Fire District 1 responded to over 9000 alarms in 1998.
