Mel Eaves is the driver of the Mega Power Nitro Coupe Corvette and the owner of Gulfway Insurers. Mel entered drag racing in 1985 after twelve years of off road racing and two years of road racing experience. Mel began his drag racing career in Super Gas, moving to top Sportsman and then on to Pro Modified before driving the Nitro Coupe.

Gulfway Motorsports Nitro Coupe

Our Nitro Coupe is prepared and Maintained at the Gulfway race shop in New Port Richey, Florida.  The chassis for the car was built by Garland Race Cars of   New Port Richey, Florida.  Garland Race Cars is know for their innovative, meticulous attention to detail and for their "on time" service.  The cars components and products are provided for by Mega Power, Oddy Perfection Race Engines, NGK Spark Plugs, Oil Eater, Versachem, National Tire & Battery and Wix Filters.
