ORANGE, CALIFORNIA: Last February, X took the stage in San Francisco and then Los Angeles for what many said would be the last time. The shows sold out in hours and many fans were left without tickets. “We easily could have sold out a second night with all the calls we’ve gotten on this show,” said Hollywood Palladium manager, Tom Black.
The frenzy behind the shows was inarguably legendary guitarist, Billy Zoom and the chemistry ignited between all the original band members together again after thirteen years: John Doe, Exene, DJ Bonebrake and Billy.
From Rolling Stone to The San Francisco Examiner, Los Angeles Times, and Orange County Register, the performances were unanimously reviewed as incredible reunion shows with all of the magic back that was, and is, X. “This summer will be the final shows for X, or at least X with Billy Zoom,” states Billy’s manager, Mike Rouse. “We agreed to about a dozen shows across the country this summer. After that Billy will be concentrating on completing his studio, producing, session work, and designing the ‘Billy Zoom’ Gretsch Silver Jet.”
This summer X will be playing a handful of one-off shows, the Guiness Fleadh Festival, the Hootenanny Festival, opening for Pearl Jam in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Sacramento and then... saying ‘goodbye’.
