ghost_talkersEver since she could remember, Saiki Misaki has had the ability to 'talk' to ghosts. She works as a special consultant for the city's secret division that deals with supernatural cases. She also works as a dominatrix, where she has gained a cult following for her extraordinary ability to tame men's twisted desires. These special talents, however, forbid her to lead an ordinary life. Everyday she has to deal with overzealous fans/stalkers, and worse, lost spirits in desperate need of help...

Ghost Talker
A teddy bear contains a cryptic message that unlocks the mystery surrounding the deaths of Ai Kunigi's sister and niece. Their spirits now haunt the Tokyo apartment complex where they died, and Ai seeks retribution for these heartbreaking deaths. Episode Two
Bindweed
It's just been one of those days for Misaki! She contemplates quitting her life as a dominatrix, giving up all the whips, the chains and the worn-panty contests to channel the spirit world for a living instead. In a chance encounter, Ai reveals to Miskai that she too can channel the spirit world. Miskai sternly warns her to ignore the spirits, which of course, she ignores. As Misaki investigates a haunted house, she receives a disturbing text message that a lonely spirit is trying to kill Ai. Can Miskai save Ai from the lonesome spirit and still teach her a lesson about the dangers of interfering with the spirit world?
Episode Three
Mad Skull
Misaki's vacation in Hakone is interrupted when Detective Yamazaki discovers her spirit channeling talents. He is investigating a fatal car accident that might be connected to children's remains recently discovered at a hotel construction site. Detective Yamazaki tells Misaki about a tragedy known as the Machada incident in which several young children were mysteriously kidnapped and murdered. Begrudgingly, Masaki helps Detective Yamazaki as he tries to prove that an emotionally disturbed woman name Ichinose was responsible for murdering the children. The town is under the siege of the ghost-children's innocent yet fatal pranks. Just when construction is reconvened and the investigation is halted; Ichinose's spirit causes a fatal accident and possesses Misaki's body. Now, the pressure is on Misaki to heal the wounds of Ichinose's spirit and release the ghost children's spirit from her haunting grip.
Episode Four
Cursed Water
Ai, Souichiro and Fujiwara arrive in Hakone to "protect" Misaki as she tries to rein in Ichinose's spirit. Misaki is not happy to see them. She is upset that her vacation has been ruined and she threatens to return to Tokyo. Although she is upset, Misaki is intrigued by the tragic circumstances surrounding Ichinose's life and her motive, so she decides to stay in Hakone. Meanwhile, the ghost children are behind yet another fatal prank. Ichinose possesses Misaki's body once again and attacks Detective Yamazaki. Will Misaki be able to overpower Ichinose's stranglehold on her body and help the detective and the ghost- children without the loss of any more life, including her own?

Commentary
I really, really enjoyed Ghost Talker's Daydream. Misaki is a very unique and memorable character. She finds herself going from one case of unexplained hauntings to another, but, apparently ghost talking doesn't pay well enough to cover living expenses. So, Misaki took a night job as dominatrix to pay the bills.
Despite the scintillating artwork and the suggestion that something naughty might turn up during the series, nothing along those lines actually happens. Now, of course, there are some bare breasts, the usual shower scenes and naturally Misaki seems to like romping around in her night work attire. There's also plenty of fan service to be found throughout. In the latter half of the series there's a truly bizarre hot spring side story where we find that Misaki has a distinctive lack of hair.
The series has some really dark moments, particularly in the latter half. But, there are enough light-hearted comedic elements sprinkled liberally throughout that give the series a nice well-rounded feel. Some of the funnier moments involve Misaki's ability to scare innocent (and sometimes not so innocent) bystanders with her trademark stare of imminent death.
Overall, the series is a bit dark, but, still very enjoyable.
