Microsoft Registry Checker
What the heck would make a system go to Microsoft Registry Checker
when it was fine on last shut down?
Keep getting..."Windows found an error in your system files and
restored a recent backup of the files to fix the problem. Press ENTER to
restart your computer". Then I hit ENTER and it re-boots to the same
screen over and over again. I can boot into Safe Mode if I hit CTRL
before it boots to Win98 screen. But, no CD-ROM support....spiderŪ

Actually, a corrupted registry isn't good. Reinstalling the OS over
the top of it won't usually fix it, and you can't boot up into windows
far enough to run Cleansweep's Registry Sweep or similar.
Here are some things to try. If you can boot into safe mode, it's a
driver problem. Reload your device drivers for video, sound, and other
stuff. Do it one at a time to see which one fixes it (if any). If that
doesn't help, boot from your Win98 floppy with CD support and try
reinstalling Windoze.
