Netscape Communicator Cache
In versions after 4 you can hold the back button down with the mouse
and view all of the pages currently in cache. You can then skip to the
one you are interested in and save time. To "quickly" clear the cache in
this and similar versions hold down "shift" while clicking "reload" with
the mouse. Of course, this same operation can be performed in
properties manually. In Communicator 4.5 or later you can clear the
location box history by clicking on this in properties. In earlier
versions you have to edit the "prefs" file with a text editor. Cache
file areas can become fragmented and should be cleared after extensive
surfing.
How do I clean out my computer's cache?
to empty cache....If you mean the cache files that your browser caches
you empty as follows (for PC's): For Internet Explorer click on VIEW on
the tool bar then INTERNET OPTIONS then click the DELETE FILES
button in the TEMPORARY INTERNET field in the middle of the open window.
For Netscape (generic), click VIEW on the tool bar, then click
PREFERENCES then click the + sign next to ADVANCED then double-click
CACHE and then you will see the CLEAR CACHE buttons. There are two for
Netscape. Memory and disk.
(the new)Milleneum
"Click" on Tools on your upper taskbar, "click" on Internet Options and
you see your temporary internet files and history right there. Do the'
nasty to 'em and you're good to go(?)...pEtEŽ
How come you have to empty your cache?
The reason for emptying your cache is: 1)sometimes IE won't recognize an
updated page and will load old stuff(in my experience anyway) 2)your
cache can get very large(if you're concerned about space)......It
doesn't hurt to empty it, it just means that places you have been won't
come up as fast, it will have to re-download all the pictures and stuff.
If you are downloading something new it doesn't matter at all.
