How to Empty the Browser Cache

by mrhtml:

First, try clicking on the page reload icon while holding down the Ctrl key, otherwise:

In MSIE 5.X browsers do this:
1. Click on the Tools menu
2. Select Internet Options
3. Under the heading Temporary Internet Files, click on Delete Files.
4. Under the heading History, click on Clear History

In AOL 4.0 browsers do this:
1. Click on My AOL
2. Select Preferences
3. Click on the WWW icon
4. Under the heading Temporary Internet Files, click on Delete Files.
5. Under the heading History, click on Clear History

In AOL 5.0 and 6.0 browsers do this:
1. Throw your computer out the window

In Netscape 4.X browsers do this:
1. Click on the Edit menu
2. Select Preferences
3. Expand the Advanced category and click on Cache
4. Click on Clear Memory Cache
5. Click on Clear Disk Cache

Note: Steps 4 and 5 for Netscape may prompt you for verification. Just click OK.

After emptying your cache, reload/refresh the page you are trying to view. (This is the reload for AOL 4.0, others are similiar)
This needs a little updating as AOL is up to 7 and IE to 6. Actually, as a long time AOLer, I always emptied cache and dumped all cookies (before I started using the free software Empty Temp Folders) by clicking the IE icon, then Tools/Internet Options/Settings/View files and then Select All and Delete. I then clicked the Clear History button as I closed the windows.

There are several ways to skin a cat - I can always just right-click the IE icon on my desktop and select properties, then just delete files and clear history right there.

Another solution would be to use the EmptyTemp progam: http://www.danish-shareware.dk/soft/emptemp/
Maybe, if you try this you won't ever want to go back to clicking anything again.
