Detective Cochran, age 56 succumbed to injuries sustained the previous day when he responded to a call which involved a suicidal man.

The officer's patrol car encountered an icy patch on the roadway. This caused his department vehicle to strike a concrete wall on State Route 48. Detective Cochran was thrown from the vehicle and sustained severe injuries.

Detective Cochran had served in law enforcement for 35 years
