INDIANA POLICE OFFICER MEMORIAL

Deputy Sheriff Shadron K. Bassett
Deputy Sheriff Shadron K. Bassett, age 34 of Winamac, was killed October 7, 2005 while responding to a call when the crash happened about 12:15 a.m. on Ind. 39 in a rural area about 50 miles north of Lafayette. He was pronounced dead at the scene of massive head injuries.

A preliminary investigation by Indiana State Police did not find a reason for why Bassett’s car left the roadway, going into a drainage ditch before hitting a tree at the driver’s side door. State Police said Bassett was wearing a seat belt.

Bassett had been a Pulaski County Sheriff’s Deputy for two years. He is survived by a wife and three children.

Tribute: Shad, I'm going to miss seeing you at 0600 when I get to work. You meeting me in the hallway to appologize again and again for calling us once, twice, sometimes three times in the middle of the night to run something by the "Sarge". You know I never minded, and now I'll miss it...and you."
