Deputy Marshal Columbus "Lum" Brown
Deputy Marshal Columbus "Lum" Brown was fatally wounded in the line of duty on December 23, 1895 and died from those wounds on December 25, 1895. Deputy Marshal Brown died of a .32 caliber bullet wound to the abdomen. Deputy Marshal Brown survied for thirty hours after recieving the fatal gunshot wound. Deputy Mashal Columbus "Lum" Brown was 52 years old and is beleived to be the first Orleans Police Officer to loose his life in the line of duty.
