Saturday the 22nd. of April was beautiful in the morning with calm sea's and beautiful sky's.  We had guest in from Spokane Washington anxious for a day offshore in Texas.  Our first trip this year had the normal preparation and we hit the jetty at about 9:00, after a late night of chicken enchilada's and margarita's.  Smiles crossed every face as we rounded the jetty running about 30 knots and faced calm sea's for our adventure.  A slight breeze made for a picture perfect day offshore as we approached the first stop.

With our late start, we were not surprised to find company at one of our favorite rigs.  Snapper were on the bite and several nice Snaps found the fish box using squid just off the bottom.  We must have released 12 illegal snapper in the 15" range, and several smaller ones.  Ling were spotted, but avoided as they were too small in the 25" to 30" range.

As more boats arrived, we got out of the traffic and headed to deeper water and under water structure.  As expected, this number had no one near it and produced several nice fish and our guest first shark experience.

Later in the day, the winds began to build as did the chop.  After the sea's got to about 3 foot, we began working our way back in.  Brenda and Tom Walton had hooked more than enough for dinner and did not want to take a chance on the forecasted 6 to 7 ft. sea's expected that afternoon and evening.  We had a following sea and good ride back to the jetty.  A fresh snapper dinner and beautiful sunset closed a perfect day offshore in April.

Reports from Dallas May indicated that Wahoo in the 30 to 50 lb. range were being caught at the East Breaks and Ling were spotted frequently.  Most ling were small on the surface, however scuba divers reported a 40 lb. ling, 20 lb. snapper and a 52 lb. grouper holding at 100 ft. in 160 ft. of water.

We are excited to be back with reports and have a new Captain anxious to make your offshore dreams come true !

New rates are going into effect, so check out our Charter page as well.

Best of fishing in the new season !!
