Somewhere out there, I have a cousin. A male cousin, probably born in 1938, but maybe 1939. I didn't know about his existence until a couple of years ago. Sadly, I know very little about this cousin and my best hope is that he will possess more clues to find me than I have to find him.
My cousin's mother may have been from McAlister, Oklahoma.
I believe she met my uncle in Northern California, probably near Redding.
They lived together for awhile and then broke up. I don't know why.
My Uncle's name was Conley Mansell. He was also known as Tex.
My Uncle was born in Wood County, Texas.
My Uncle drove a Greyhound Bus out of Redding, California.
I was told that my Uncle sent money to his son (my cousin) until he went in the service.
I don't know what branch of the service he went into. That was probably after 1956, and probably not before 1960.
I was told that my cousin had my Uncle's name. But I don't know what that means. I don't know if it means his last name was Mansell, or if it means he was given the name Conley as a first or middle name.
The aunt who shared this information with me is now deceased, and by the time she shared this information with me, she was old and her memory was fading.
At the time this cousin was born, my mother and a couple of her sisters were living in Portland, Oregon, as was my grandmother, Susan Frances "Fannie" Reed Mansell Mitchell.
So it is even possible that my cousin was born in Oregon.
So there we have it. Unknown male cousin born in 1938 or 1939, in Oregon, or California, or Texas, or even in Oklahoma!
The name James is sort of echoing through my mind. Perhaps I heard that name in
my childhood. Perhaps that is the name of my missing cousin.
Can anyone suggest where I can go from here with so little information?
