Michael Jarzabkowski and Associates

Staff and Associates

All of our staff and associates are very competent technical design engineers, but they also have active experience in facilities operation and know the real requirements of end users whether they be studio engineers, television station technical staff, orchestra conductors, musicians, or live-sound systems operators. They are still active (when time permits) as technical directors for concerts, music directors for shows, and producers for music recording projects.

They have all been engaged in training operators in equipment use and in teaching acoustics and audio system design principles. We have presented lectures and given seminars in acoustics and audio system design to groups of over 40 people . These seminars have been presented in the USA, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Vietnam.

Michael Jarzabkowski

Senior Consultant / Managing Director

Michael Jarzabkowski studied Geophysics at the University of Queensland, Australia before working in siesmic data analysis for Carpentaria Exploration Company (CEC) which is a subsidiary of Mount Isa Mines, Australia. As a supplement to his theoretical knowledge, it was here that he developed practical skills in waveform and ray acoustics. Since leaving CEC in 1985 he has been involved in architectural acoustics specializing in recording studio and auditorium design, noise and vibration control, design of radio and television stations, audio system design, and many other aspects of architectural acoustics and noise control. In January 1990 he founded Sound Scene Acoustics Pty. Ltd. to undertake international projects.

Michael has developed computer software for acoustic design in computation of Standing Wave (modal) analysis, Early Reflection and Critical Distance analysis, Reverberation Time computation using classical Sabine and Fitzroy-Eyring formulae, and computer programs for Sound Isolation and Noise Control.

Michael was a regular guest lecturer at the Ocean Institute of Audio Technology in Kuala Lumpur (1991-1994) and was responsible for outlining their course in acoustics. He was more recently the Teaching Assistant at Yale University for their graduate course in Architectural Acoustics (2001).

He has written papers and articles by request for the international broadcast magazine, Online which serves the Asia Pacific communications industry. Published articles include studio and control room design (a 2-part series), and audio equipment selection for music recording studios. He has also had a number of articles on church acoustics published in various magazines in the USA. Michael recently (May, 2002) completed a Masters Degree at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, USA.
