We also worked closely with local project teams of architects, civil and structural engineers, and mechanical and electrical engineers, to advise them of the acoustic implications of their design concepts in preliminary stages. These projects had acoustics and operational function as their top priority, so the conceptual layout of the site was controlled by acoustics and broadcast requirements.

Some of Our Broadcasting Clients

We were the acoustics and noise control consultants for the Indosiar television station in Jakarta. This was the first private national television station in Indonesia. The project has more than 14 studios ranging from 9000 cubic meters for variety shows, to 200 cubic meters for multitrack music recording. There are 18 control rooms for monitoring, broadcast, and recording. We worked closely with the project team which consisted of Denton, Corker, and Marshall (Hong Kong Office) as the architects, P.T. Triweger as the civil and structural engineers, George Floth Pte. Ltd. (Sydney, Australia) as the mechanical and electrical engineers, and Television Broadcast (TVB) from Hong Kong as the audio-visual broadcast consultants.

Our scope of work covered all aspects of acoustics and noise and vibration control for the complete project. The design target for studios was NR-10 and NR-15 for control rooms. We developed a unique system to avoid the cost of floating the large studios (single studios around 650 square meters of floor area) by using independent building vibration isolation ground structures above the pile caps and ground beams. Even though the studio complex building looks to be one unit, it is in fact more than five independent structures with complete vibration isolation between each one. As you pass from one section to the other the only visible clue is the flexible join system at the doorway thresholds.

Turner Entertainment Networks Asia, Inc. (TNT), HONG KONG

We designed and consulted for TNT's new audio recording facility on the 30th Floor of Oxford House in Quarry Bay, Hong Kong. We worked closely with TNT and Macostar Technology Inc. who were the equipment suppliers and construction contractors. The project consisted of 2 control rooms, 2 recording rooms, a master control room, machine rooms, library, and a number of editing suites.

Rediffusion Group, Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA

We have undertaken many projects with the Rediffusion Group in Malaysia including Twin Studios: their music recording studios in Jalan Pahang, TAPS: their film and video post production facilities in Taman Tun, JJ Jingles: their music production facility in Taman Tun, and we were also the acoustic consultants for their new Cable Radio Network Facility in their new building.

The project consists of 14 broadcast studios and control rooms for their new 12-storey complex at Jalan Chemor. We worked with the design team which consisted of Kumpulan Senireka as the architects, Juaraconsult as the mechanical and electrical engineers and T.Y. Lin (SEA) Sdn. Bhd. as the civil and structural engineers.

Sistem Televisyen Malaysia Berhad (TV3) Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA

We have also done acoustic consulting for the TV3 Group even though they have their own in-house acoustic consultants. These were projects that were tendered out on a turnkey design and build package.

We were engaged as the acoustic design consultants for renovation of two existing newsroom recording facilities that had excessive noise problems and crosstalk from other rooms. This involved measuring the noise problem and then determining which of the various partitions were causing the problems.

Another project undertaken by us was for TV3's subsidiary, Animated Post Production Techniques (APPT). We were involved as turnkey acoustic design consultants including mechanical and electrical services for one studio and control room for digital audio post-production at Bangunan Syed Kechik. The equipment was supplied by Studer Revox and includes an SSL Screen Sound digital recorder and editor, Studer console and Studer monitor speakers.

P.T. Cakrawala Andalas Televisi (ANTEVE) Jakarta, INDONESIA

We were the acoustic consultants for the ANTEVE television station broadcast center in Jakarta. We were responsible for all aspects of the acoustics and noise and vibration control. We worked with Hobbs Winning (Perth, Australia) as the architects, BCA (Perth, Australia) as the mechanical and electrical engineers, and Van de Meers (Perth, Australia) as the structural engineers.

The project has 6 edit suites, 1 master control center, 2 audio control rooms, 3 other control rooms, 2 dubbing studios and one large newsroom studio. The project is located on the 18th and 19th floors of the Mulia Centre in downtown Jakarta.
