In 1996 Norwesco Club accomplished a goal of establishing a Telephone Museum in the Club's area. The Club had been storing museum articles for the past 10 years. Norwesco Board Members have long been requesting the use of a building from GTE Northwest to house a Museum. GTE offered the use of a closed Service Center for the Museum which is located next to the Marysville, Washington Central Office.

The old service center was very adaptable for the Museum but, we needed more room for large displays such as switching and carrier equipment. The Board met again and was able to acquire a large part of the old switch room adjacent to the service center. At that time GTE was removing a Number 2 EAX from the switch room. The Board again worked with GTE and was able to get the EAX left in place for display. The Number 2 EAX we feel is historic because it is the last analog switch AE made.

While remodeling the Central Office, GTE put up walls between the actual CO and Norwesco display areas. We have our own street and rear access also. In 1996 we moved all the stored items to the museum. We have the small items on display and are working on the switching and switch board displays. We are in the process of establishing a compressive historic telephone book and reference library.

The library contains books from the last 75 years of the area.We have received a large amount of GTE Northwest archived material for display. We have also received 5,000 historical video tapes from GTE. It is a large under taking for our club, but it has aroused a lot of interest in the Northwest Area. Norwesco Club has applied and received from the National Office a museum grant.
