1996, Father and Son Owners Burdon and Kevin Campbell brought outdoor professional
soccer to Sacramento with the USISL Select Division Sacramento Scorpions.
In 1997, the Scorpions will play in the West Division of the D3 Pro League
in the realigned USISL/A-League.
NEWS:

The Scorpions headed to the playoffs after finishing 2nd
in the West Division of the D3 Pro USISL with 11 Wins and 7 Losses in League
play and are 2-3 in non-league games. The Scorpions finished the regular
season with a 1-0 win over the West Division leading San Francisco Bay
Seals. The Scorpions play their next home match next weekend to open
the Playoffs. The West number 2 seed Scorpions hosted number 3 seed
Chico Rooks Friday 18 August. The Scorpions put on a hard battle
but came away with a 6-1 defeat from the Rooks largely at the the hands
of 4 goals from Rooks forward Jake Guinn.

Ex-Scorpions Greg Vanney and Guillermo Jara are currently

Ex-Scorpion Antonio Sutton and Brandon Cavitt have joined
the CISL Sacramento Knights this
season.

Former Scorpion Greg Vanney was called up for the U.S. squad
again this week in their friendly against El Savador after earlier this
year having a good performance in their final first round World Cup qualifier
against Guatamala.

The Scorpions finished the 1996 season 16-10 (11-7 Select), second in the
Pacific Division of USISL Select Division Western Conference. The Scorpions
just finished up a pretty succesful season with a loss in the USISL Select
Division Pacific Division playoffs to the California Jaguars. The
California Jags went on to win the 1996 USISL Select Six Championship.
