THE WAY THE STORE WORKS

If you do not trade, any book in the store is 1/2 of the original cover price with a minimum of $1.00 UNLESS it is a special priced book.

If you do trade, it is cover price to cover price with a charge of $1.25 for regular books and $1.50 for best sellers.
 

EXAMPLE: You bring in a book with a cover price of $5.99.  You purchase a book with a cover price of $5.99.  We charge you $1.25 plus tax.
 

Any books with cover prices of $3.00 or less will be 75 cents with trade.

If you bring in more books than you take out, we put the balance on a card and keep it in our file for next time.  You will not be allowed to accumulate more than $500 of book credit on your card.  If you are at the “limit” and still want to be able to bring your books in (or don’t have anyone else that can use the credit) you may donate it to our “Excess Card” to be given to customers as needed.

You must trade Science Fiction/Fantasy for Science Fiction/Fantasy.

BEST SELLERS

Best Sellers are indicated by a red circle with a “B”.  They are books that are either less than one year old (paperback copyright date) or a “high-demand author” designated by the store and are subject to change.  The current “high-demand
authors” are Dean Koontz, Stephen King, Louis L’Amour, Zane Grey, Nora Roberts, Linda Howard,   Anne Rice, Janet Evanovich, Diana Gabaldon, John Sandford, James Patterson, Jeffery Deaver, Nelson DeMille, Nicholas Sparks, W.E.B. Griffin, Robert Jordan, and any books on “Oprah’s List”.  Since Harlequin Historicals do not include a month in their copyright, we will keep recent numbers (designated by the store) on the Best Seller shelf each month.

NEW “GENTLY READ” BOOKS

Paperbacks that are less than 4 months old (paperback copyright date) are sold to ALL customers for 1/2 of the cover price.  If you bring in books that are in this category, we will give you book credit PLUS $1.25 in cash.  Other books included in this category are Star Wars, Dragon Lance, Forgotten Realms, and series romance which are current month and newer.

HARDBACK BOOKS

We are only accepting textbooks and hardbacks that have a copyright date of less than 2 years (2000,2001, & 2002).  If we do accept your book, we will give you book credit.

AUDIO BOOKS

Audio books are traded cover price to cover price a $3.00 charge per “book”.

 EXAMPLE: You bring in an audio book with a cover price of $25.00.  You take out two audio books with cover prices of $12.00 each.  This leaves you with $1.00 audio book credit on your card.  You then pay the flat rate of $3.00 per book, which is $6.00 plus tax.

PUZZLES

You may buy or trade jigsaw puzzles.  We trade puzzle for puzzle with a charge of 75 cents.  They are $2.00 without trade.  Puzzles are not guaranteed to have all the pieces.
 

WE DO NOT ACCEPT:

more than one medium box, or one paper grocery sack, or two plastic grocery bags per customer per visit.  If you are representing an institution, we will accept no more than 2 boxes per visit.

low numbered series romances (Harlequin and Silhouette) - 1994 and older (this cutoff date will change every year).

books with clipped corners, or black “X” on cover, or stamped “Non-Returnable”.

current library books that are not marked as discarded.

dirty or dusty or chewed books.

books without covers (back or front or both).

books that have gotten wet.

books that are falling apart (cover falling off or pages falling out).
