THREE YEARS OLD
By Thomas

My little
grandson said to me,
"How long, Pop-pop will I be 3?"
I said, "My boy, you'll quickly grow
And you'll be four before you know."
He looked at me and shook his head.
I'd rather stay at 3 instead.
My sister goes to school each day
She never has much time to play.
Dad goes to work and when he's done
He never has the time for fun.
And Mommy runs and cleans and shops
It seems like her work never stops.
So I would like to stay at 3
And have folks take good care of me.
And keep me fed and nice and warm
Free from fear and free from harm.
I think that what I would like to do
Is retire right now and be like you.
