| To volunteer,
please visit the habitat office for a sign up form, or download the form in
PDF format by clicking here, and
return the form to us by mail.
In addition to construction work, we always need volunteers for our ReStore.
If you would like to work in building materials thrift store or help pick-up
donations, call the ReStore at 888-1103 or fill out our volunteer form.
Committees, each with a specific purpose, carry out much of Habitat for
Humanity's work. Most meet monthly for an hour or so, with an additional
couple of hours of work. If you see a committee you might wish to join,
please don't wait to be asked. Check with the office (756-9080) for dates
and times and come to the next meeting.
The Construction Committee is involved with planning and purchasing
as well as construction. Skilled labor is always in demand: painters, finish
carpenters, plumbers, electricians, but anyone who is willing to work and
can follow directions is welcome. People to make and donate sandwiches and
coffee for the crew are definitely a plus!
The Family Selection Committee formulates specific, non-biased
guidelines for selecting families to partner with us. They make public
presentations to explain the process of selection and then review the
applications and make recommendations to the Board of Directors for the
families who will receive a Habitat home. This committee meets for only a
few months a year, but may meet as much as weekly during that time.
Once the family has been selected, the Family Partnership Committee
works with them through the process of building and then owning a home.
Resource Development is responsible for fundraising and public
relations.
The Volunteer Committee works to recruit and train new volunteers to
help in our mission.
The Board of Directors oversees the entire operation, formulates
future plans and ensures that we are following our mission and goals. We
currently meet at the 1st floor conference room, Baycrest Village, 3959
Sheridan Avenue, North Bend.
