Who are we?

  • The faith and vision of our immigrant forefathers gave this congregation its beginning here in Lafayette, Indiana, over 130 years ago.
  • Led by the Spirit of Christ, we bring the transforming power of God to our world, as we uphold the love Christ Jesus revealed on the cross and the victory assured us by his resurrection. This Christian faith is summed up in the historic Apostles' Creed.
  • We have been blessed with a rich theological and confessional heritage that flowered in the great Protestant Reformation led by Luther, Calvin, and other "Reformers." This centers in a deep belief in the Scripture's authority and a far-reaching vision of God's kingdom in our world. Firmly planted in our historic Christian faith, we believe that we must continue to "reform" the church so that it remains relevant to our modern culture and true to the Biblical teachings. Gods grace and sovereignty have brought us to the threshold of the 21st century, focused our vision, and given us a message of hope to proclaim.
  • We belong to a church "family" of people who care for and encourage each other as we seek to deepen our relationship with God and serve him in this world. Today this church embraces people with diverse backgrounds, interests, and legacies, yet one in Christ. Knowing people care is of great importance to our mental and even physical health. Equally as important is caring about someone else; it focuses our mind on others. As members of this church family,we strive to care for one another in physical ways accompanied by prayer. In so doing, we often find that we are blessed.

With these strong fundamentals we are excited about our unity in following God's call to further growth. We believe that God's vision for us and for our world calls us to GROW

  • as kingdom citizens
  • in worship
  • in wisdom and knowledge
  • in caring for each other
  • in reaching out to others
