It almost went undetected. She almost got away with it. They called it the candy killing. It took months to finally track it down. The clues began to show up Halloween night, in the form of Chocolate coated bone fragments. From San Antonio to Dallas. From Houston to Oklahoma City. Reports came pouring in all night and into the next few days. It took a while. But it finally came together. It was really pretty clever when you think about it. She just let the company process and distribute the body and bones. The flesh was probably mixed into the fat used to make the chocolate. The bones added a bit of crunch. All nicely packaged and distributed over a couple of states. The only problem is that they only recovered less than 10 pounds total. Not much to show for a full grown man’s skeleton. Anyway, they tracked it back to the factory and after a bit of investigating found out that Martha’s husband had gone missing. Well, with 2 and 2, they managed to work out some of the details. Martha went to prison. As to the rest of the 160 or so pounds of her husband, well, did your Halloween candy have an odd taste and a bit of extra crunch? Just asking.
