Comments on the Family History

Most recently, Web Research has uncovered more information about Peter Johns(t)on(e), father of our very own Lt. Richard (Derrick) Johnson, hero of the French and Indian Wars in Pennsylvania. We had thought (very much unproven) that Peter had come from Holland. The new information suggests Scotland, or maybe Wales. The uncertainty of the spelling of Johnson isn't unusual. The information said that the Scots spelled it Johnston, but pronounced it Johnson, with a silent T, enentually dropping the T.
We have been given the name of Peter's wife; she is Mary "Polly" Phillips. Unfortunately she was married to Peter about five years after our Richard was born! When things don't fit right it makes you wonder.

We also looked at a story of rebellion in Holmes County, Ohio, during the Civil War, against the war time draft. We'll research it some more.

Tune in soon to see more!
