Since it seams there are a number of the membership becoming very
familiar with their local Kaw shop as they beleagueur them as to when
their new larger than necessary bike comes in.
Ask the dealerships for door prizes to this year's HCR. So far all we
have are Sarongs again. We can't have this as the only door prize. Those
coming from Houston, San Antonio, and Austin are welcome to add to the
pot.
Trinkets are also welcome as always to distract from the more valuable
booty.
There will be a truck going down and I can hawl down your stuff. From
DFW.

We have reached the pinnacle attained by last years attendence of 141
VROCers. It should be noted that there could be a statistical error in
the Roster count unavoidable in today's heckle climate.
The dinner sign up is going along nicely. I've included a list of diners
as I receive their checks. Thank you.
Please pray to the t-shirt Gods that the innocent people will prevail.
And we have HCR T-Shirts in time.

The "Early Thursday Morning Ride Down"` is on. I will most likely be in
my truck tho......
I'm working on logistics - for myself. Someone will need to lead the BRD
on Thursday.

Estimates are being worked now for short and long sleeve and possibly
something for the ladies. The design takes a longer lead time than I had
anticipated - I'm stupid about T-shirt production. The important bit is
that we have commitment quickly to get the correct amount of shirts
ordered. Hopefully this will be soon.
woody (stupid about t-shirts)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
do you have any idea what the t-shirts will go for?
I would be willing to send my money now to help speed things up.

I did a little tweaking on the dinner signup form. It should
automaticaly include my address now with a reply to the person signing
up using the email address they included on the form.
The t-shirts are being worked. This is my fault for taking to long. So,
when I get the form up it would help the innocent people if we could
quickly sign up and send money.

Ladies, Gentlemen, Bikers All,
The circus is finally in town.
We are going to have BBQ for the HCR VII Dinner.
Having just come back from a jaunt in the Texas hills I have made
arrangement with Cooper's BBQ in Llano Texas to provide food catering
for the 7th Annual Hill Country Ride. I'll be picking up the food and
returning to the Super 8 hotel parking lot in Fredericksburg. Not only
do we have some excellent beef but there will be a keg of Shiner Bock
Bier included with the $9 per dining person effort.
This is a parking lot dinner. Elegance is a forgone luxury. I hope ya'll
don't mind. The alternatives had exorbitant costs associated with them.
Web site for HCR VII is:
http://home1.gte.net/res0e8bt/hcr7/hcr7.php
I hope the web site dinner form works. :)
We have been having our group picture in Luchkenbach around 6pm on
Friday. Dinner will be served after 7pm.
Speaking with the Super 8 motel there are only 5 rooms available of the
original 30 that we had reserved last year. This is not counting any
free range rooms that might be available.
The brick has been ordered at the brick foundry around the beginning of
December. I had to move the picnic table to confirm temporary absence.
Wag, the green avocado guac dip is still good at Mamacita's

I'm going down to F'burg on Thursday. First stop will be at Cooper's and
discuss a catering deal. X suggested that Cooper's could supply
brisket/sausage for $8-10 a head. I hope this works out. I'll need to
get picnic plates, forks/knives, etc, and see if I can get the hotel to
loan us some serving tables for the parking lot.
Otherwise we will do a brat grill on the parking lot. Which means I'll
be arranging with a local grocer for brats, veggies and other catering
food goodies.
As for the T-shirts - I'm organizing B-Man to do his HCR design and Ride
T-shirt concession again this year. I mean, why screw with a good thing
when B-Man knows what to do :)
What I haven't done anything about is any door prizes. Those that sign
up for the "HCR Parking-Lot Ride Dinner" will be required to give a
password` and dinner security will be the old honor system way.

Just a thought but maybe if Sherm is coming again this
year he would consider leaving the latte machine at home and
packing his portable, foldout, smoking pit for 50 instead.
Always fun to see what those Wings will hold. And, heck,
I for one would like to see X do his version of the MJ
moonwalk ... just not BEFORE dinner, thankyouverymuch.
Pilgrim
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK, WD can slap your butt around while X demonstrates the Michael
Jackson "Moonwalk", which I heard he mastered during a recent trip to
India (Long, long, flight). We will yell while they perform. Oldman
and Slash can enthrall us with stories and pictures of their recent
trips to France and Guatemala.
Coyote
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well hell. A banger sandwich and 15 cents worth of potatos and sour
cabbage ain't exactly a bargain, but the Sauerkrauts sound like they are
worth the price of admission.... Butt slapping and oompahing ...Is that
legal in Texas?
> If WD, Coyote,

I guess I'm gonna have to pass on being part of the entertainment. I
just can't bring myself to slap Coyote and X on the butt and oompah and
yodle. That just ain't right....

WD, you, Coyote, and X would be strained to beat the "Sauerkrauts" and
their show. There is a package price of $25 per person which included
tax and gratuity. Your choice of schnitzel or brat sandwich with tater
salad, s'kraut, pickle spear, and German mustard. This all, and
accompanied by a 90 minute "Action Packed Variety Show" featuring the
Sauerkrauts (the blurb calls them "Oompah with Attitude." If WD, Coyote,
and X can do some butt slapping dances, yodle, and oompah, we may have
something.
woody

To hell with the 'event people', we are an event. Just give Slash the
phone number, she will get it straightened out. If they want a concert,
I'll do the hambone and Coyote can play the spoons and sing Jimmy
Cracks Corn. Then X can do his Michael Jackson routine....
That will work too. Bring your Mr. Microphone.....

Nov 18,
I did ask the Super 8 guy (owner/manager) if we could do a dinner in the
parking lot. He was amenable. This of course would bring up the ever
popular HCR security issues of the past. Who to let in? Who to keep out?
Topless women always welcome. Rowdy bikers stay on the top floor
overlook. And so on.
The Super 8 does have a small facility on the top floor. We could use
that for food distribution. Then the parking lot as a rather large
dinner plate.
Do we want to do our own dinner? Motel 8 said we could make it a
"Private Party." Which would exclude public drunkeness potential and
F'burg jail time. Circle the bikes and lets party.

HCR VII Update
But first a ride report.
Dallas got cold - Went to Port Isabel and South Padre Island for a week
of pick-up camping. On the way down (500+ miles) stopped at Shiner for
tasty beverage and lunch. I was slightly delayed in Schulenberg by
county and city cops who informed me that my policy of the last 25 years
of not having a front license plate on any of my vehicles is a no-no in
Texas. They gave me a warning in exchange for my autograph. They also
wanted to know about the low camper top I recently built for my truck
with the pretense of checking out my skill and workmanship of wood,
screws, epoxy, and varnish. I said OK, but just before opening said
Woody Camping Container, I did query if they had ulterior motives in the
search for contraband. They said "No", I said "Bullshit". First cop let
the friendly discourse slide, second cop asked me again what I had said
taking that "Irritated Cop Stance" I just looked at him with a smile as
I opened that which keeps the rain off sleeping campers so that the cops
could see camping gear and a few tools. The biers in Shiner tasted
particularly good after the good cop/bad cop show. Plotting a direction
via Corpus Christi and down through the coastal valley of Texas ended my
days traveling 11 and a half hours later in the great village of Port
Isabel, population: more Winter Texans and Snow Birds than locals. More
Canadian "Eh's" than I've heard in a long time. I could have made it in
11 hours 'cept for the aforementioned mid-day road show.
The next seven days I stayed at the Anchor Marina which has a few RV
spots and shower/laundry facilities, surrounded by sail and fishing
boats, all for $100. They even rent out some fairly nice trailers. I
recommend the place and may rent a trailer when I bike down some day. Of
course this is also the marina I needed to visit to look at a 30 foot
sailboat I am thinking of making my winter, or actually continuous warm
weather, home. Sail to the sun! South Padre Island was excellent without
the crowds. You can walk into any tatoo parlor you want, they have a
few. Warm weather, Cold Shiner, Happy Woody.
Alas, on to the return trip to Fredericksburg via San Antonio where I
gave my respects to the Alamo. Stayed at the KOA in F'burg for two
nights. For those coming to the HCR and staying at the KOA I have the
following info for you. The KOA policy for tent sites here is such that
you can have two, maybe three tents per tent site for motorcyclists,
depending on the size of the tents. Tent sites are not restricted to the
number of motorcycles, within reason, of course. They also have 6 cabins
which are restricted to 4 people each. There are two bunk beds and a
queen size for a Burly-Man and his Fluff in each:) The facilities are
well kept, but low water pressure does not wake Woody up in the morning.
Let's see, there was somthing about Luckenbach. Oh yea, I remember.
Weather was cool and they had the stove working. Listened to much guitar
playing as there was only a small group of tourists. This was my first
time to just relax in the back and listen to the pickin'. Marshall
brought out his wash-tub bass, very nice. What else? Oh yea.
THE HCR VII BRICK IS ORDERED!
Now onto the Dinner Info. I spoke with most of the larger restaurants
who had facilities large enough to house our group dinner. There is not
a lot of selection.
Mamacita's can hold 80 of us and can do a plated fajita dinner. I need
to get back with them to confirm that April 2nd is open for them and to
work out a per head price. That info was not available when I spoke to
Mamacita's.
The Auslander has an opening for April 2nd but we would be a tight fit
for 80 folks. I think we are expecting more. Room for a group dinner in
town seems to be in the 80 range consistently
The place I am keen on is the Brewery. It is on main street about a
block and a half west of the hotel (Super 8) most of us stay in. They
have a back room facility that will host many people. Given that we will
most likely bust the 80 person limit, the Brewery would be our best
place. I spoke with them on the trip and earlier today to confirm that
they do have April 2nd open, only if they do not have a concert that
evening. They are checking on that with the event people. The Brewery
can do a German, a Mexican, or a Texas Buffet. The buffet's range from
$17-19 per person. On top of that is Tax, a 15% service, and then a 3%
set up charge. That gets us into the $23 per person charge for our
dinner. Other places are a few dollers less but can't hold all of us.
Besides it's a brewery.
I am still waiting on info from the catfish place on the west side of
town but they really don't have the space. Also the Hanger looks as if
it has the space but doubtful as to it's compentence as I could not find
anyone to speak to. I'll keep trying.
The Super 8 motel, our main VROC hangout for the HCR Ride, has received
16 reservation of the 33 blocked rooms. Call to reserve your rooms.
A final bit of ride report that I am reluctant to tell. The last bit on
the todo list was to have a chop at Cooper's on the way home. The lady
at the KOA said there was a comparable BBQ in Driftwood Texas, almost
into Austin. Needless to say I went on a wild goose chase in the hills.
I found Driftwood and a mighty fine motorbiking road (150), but no BBQ.
I have been devastated every since. I eventually ate in Waco. I'm still
having stomach difficulties. Woe is me.

Hogwash. One would have to be scrupleless to vandalize such an icon
as the HCR web site. Most likely X.
Coyote
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since we all know Harold "Itchy" Bahls I put him on the list. However,
given the recent website attacks, Ms. Gunch and also Mr. Meahoff set off
appropriate alarms. Since last year's Roster Heckle, security has been
stepped up. They may be Rostered if three known members to myself will
vouch for their actual existance - on this planet. Upon visual
inspection of said vague folks at Luckenbach I will buy them a bier.
This particular Roster trick has been used in the past. Why else would
we have a memorial ride dedicated to Francis Culpepper.
woody

Heresy!! Who would do such a thing?? By the way, I didn't see Modine
Gunch on the list of attendees?
