Bedouins Punished

On Friday, April 17th, four RAF Whitley aeroplanes took off from the aerodrome near Mersa Matruh and bombed a Bedouin encampment near White Palm Oasis, in the Western Desert.  A total of eight bombs were  dropped.  Casualties among the Bedouin are unknown.  All four aeroplanes returned to base safely.

According to British High Commisioner Reginald Atwater, these Bedouins belonged to the same tribe as those who massacred three members of the Clive Expedition last Saturday.  The High Commisioner promised "a similar, forceful, and timely response to anyone threatening public order".
