Clive Expedition Feted in Cairo
Cairo extended a warm welcome to the Clive Expedition last Wednesday at the Turf Club, with a lavish reception hosted by Mr. Omar Shakti. The leader of the expedition, Dr. Henry Clive of Durham, England, stated that his intentions were to continue the promising work begun last winter near Giza. Other principals of the expedition in attendance included Miss Agatha Broadmoor of Norwich, England, Mr. Martin Winfield of London, England, Dr. James Gardner of Shrewsbury, England, Dr. Johannes Sprech of Leipzig, Germany, and Dr. Janwillem Vanheuvelen of Leyden, Holland.The Clive Expedition is sponsored by the Penhew Foundation and is the fifth such expedition since the end of the Great War.
