Dutch Archeologist Murdered
Dutch archeologist Jan Vanheuvelen, formerly with the Clive Expedition, was found dead Thursday afternoon in the old quarter of Cairo. Foul play is strongly suspected. The body of Mr. Vanheuvelen was found in a back alley by a Catholic priest and carried to the Mission House. It was turned over to Cairo Police, who are conducting a thorough investigation. According to Police investigators, Mr. Vanheuvelen had been stabbed repeatedly and then shot in the back. No money or valuables were found on the body, suggesting that robbery was the motive.
According to Clive Expedition spokesman Martin Winfield, Mr. Vanheuvelen had recently resigned from the Clive Expedition to pursue independent research into the Cult of Bast.
