Van Heuvelen Investigation Continues
Chief of Detectives Arthur Wrexford announced a major development in the investigation of the murder of Dutch archeologist Jan Van Heuvelen (see Bulletin, March 30). Prompted by the generous reward offered by the Penhew Foundation, a reliable eyewitness to the crime has stepped forward. With the assistance of the eyewitness, the murder weapon has been recovered. Contrary to previous speculation, the murderer is now believed to be an American gangster engaged in the smuggling of antiquities.Chief Wrexford promised that arrests were imminent.
