Cheri Higgins was
born at Salem, Massachusetts in 1897 to wealthy parents. Her
father (a speculator in real-estate) profited greatly from the growth
of Boston during the Gilded Age and her childhood was spent in the lap
of luxury. She spent a year (1913) studying at a prestigious
school for girls in Paris and continued her education at Radcliffe,
graduating in 1918 with a B.A. in Art History. She moved to New
York City and became employed by the Metropolitan Museum of Art as a
buyer of Asian and Oceanic art. She also works for one of the
top-flight auction houses in New York as an appraiser. Her
interests are gourmet cooking and shopping. She and her family
are clients of Alisa Blankstone, who manages their investment
portfolio. Earlier this year (1925) she met Dorothy Parker at a museum
party and was invited to participate in the literary Round Table at the
Algonquin Hotel.
