Eleanor Adelaide Parker, a.k.a. Nell, is a 27 year old widow from Cincinnati, Ohio. She met Lya at boarding school. She subsequently attended Northwestern University where she studied French and art, and met her husband. He died shortly after they married, another victim of the influenza pandemic of 1919. The daughter of a meat packing magnate, she has been living with her parents and working as a portrait photographer. Due to increasing pressure from her parents to remarry, Nell has traveled East to visit Lya. She’s a strong swimmer, an accomplished horsewoman, and has an avid interest in history and archaeology.
