Dictionary of Chron X™ terms and acronyms

  • 2-4-1 (or 2 for 1) - assets which, when deployed, create a copy of themselves in play. Currently, the 2-4-1 assets are Ruka Dogs, Sarkov Combine Escort, UNMF Infantry and Hasaku Arctic Auton.
     
  • 40/4 - the typical deck format, where the deck must have a minimum of 40 total cards (not counting the HQ) and there may be a maximum of 4 of any particular card. This notation is used for a wide variety of deck formats, where the first number represents the minimum total cards and the second number the maximum number of duplicates.
     
  • A - (acronym) auction, generally followed by the card or cards being auctioned.
     
  • AFCX - (acronym) Away From Chron X.
     
  • Angel - an inner circle asset produced by Failsafe AI.
     
  • Angel deck - a deck which features Failsafe AI as its win condition (see Failsafe).
     
  • Ant - short for Antarctica, one of the maps.
     
  • BCD - (acronym) Bion Cell Drone, an Overture Uncommon asset
     
  • Bob - 1) a nickname for Codeslinger, a 1st Edition Uncommon asset. 2) a deck which relies on a multicard combo to win, where the combo focuses on increasing Codeslinger's FirePower, making him unblockable, and then using Condeslinger's special ability to attack repeatedly in order to do all the damage needed to win in one turn.
     
  • BP - (acronym) Breakpoint™, a Chron X expansion set.
     
  • BSM - (acronym) Big Stupid Military, one of the main deck types, concentrating on high firepower assets (usually from the FUS domain).
     
  • BSRD - (acronm) Blue Sky Red Design™, the current owner of Chron X.
     
  • C - (acronym) Common
     
  • CFO - (acronym) ComForce Operations, an Overture Very Rare intervention.
     
  • Deathslinger - another name for a Bob deck (see Bob).
     
  • Desperados - a group of Chron X players who have enough experience (and plenty of extra cards) and decided to help newer players learn the game of Chron X by playing a series of low powered decks, concentrating on different approaches to winning games. Desperados typically reward players who beat them in a game by giving them Common and Uncommon cards from their own personal collection.   • Deep Ice HQ - an underground HQ with 60 HP, and produces 2/2/2 infinitely. This HQ is only used by Uniforms in gunslinger games and by the AI in the Campaign 2: Defiance! Trainer.
     
  • Dtalks - short for Disarmament Talks, an Ascension Very Rare intervention.
     
  • Failsafe - 1) the card Failsafe AI. 2) the Failsafe track. 3) a deck type which features the Failsafe track.
     
  • Funship - a nickname for Utopia Gunship, an Ascension Rare asset.

  • FUS - (acronym) the Former United States, one of the Chron X domains.
     
  • GA - Genetic Anomalies, the company that created Chron X.
     
  • Gunslinger - a Uniform who plays games with a special advantage against regular Chron X players, with the Chron X player being awarded free booster packs should they win. The special advantage is usually either access to a soon-to-be-released edition of Chron X cards, or a special card that normal Chron X players don't have access to, such as Deep Ice HQ or SD.
     
  • HB - (acronym) high bid in auction.
     
  • Highlander - a deck format where the max number of duplicates for any card (except common bases) is 1.
    "Highlander"? There can be only one? Get it!?!
     
  • IHQ - (acronym) Instant HQ, a card that, when part of a deck, discards the entire deck and then generates its own deck.
     
  • LandShark - 1) a type of deck that is a cross between a MudShark deck and a Highlander deck, i.e. it is composed of one of every card with the exception of those listed in the definition for MudShark. 2) a game where both players use that type of deck.
     
  • Max dupes - short for maximum number of duplicates (see 40/4).
     
  • Mom - short for Mother Earth Saboteur, an Overture Rare asset.
     
  • MudPuppy - 1) a type of deck that is like a MudShark deck, except that the cards are limited to commons and uncommons. 2) a game where both players use that type of deck.
     
  • Mudshark - 1) a type of deck that is composed of a guide set, or as close as a player's collection gets to one, minus the following cards: all HQs, all TopDeck cards except for Build Site, all Yakusa assets, and Hive Command Outpost. 2) a game where both players use that type of deck.
     
  • N - (acronym) need, as in cards a player is looking to obtain.
     
  • NS - (acronym) Northern Sprawl, one of the maps.
     
  • Pac - short for Pacifica, one of the maps.
     
  • Pod Jammer - a defensive combo where Bion Pod and Comm Jammer provide the bulk of the defense.
     
  • RZB - short for Razorball, a team based Chron X league.
     
  • SD - an asset with 50 for HP, FirePower, Armor, Stealth Perception and CyberAffinity, has no cost for attacking, moving or searching, can untap itself at will with no cost, generate 2 UN Troopers, give other assets AT, and most importantly, win games. Apparently, this card was created as a testing tool for Chron X developers, and is now used by Uniforms for the second wave of gunslinging. The exact origin of the initials "SD" is not clear.
     
  • Sewer Tuna - see Tuna.
     
  • Slinger - short for gunslinger.
     
  • Suitcase - 1) a player with a large card collection. The thought is that these players require suitcases to carry their collections around. 2) a player who tends to build decks using some of the more expensive cards.
     
  • Swiss - a style of tournament where it is split into many rounds, and players play one game each round. In contrast to elimination tournaments, players continue to play even after they lose. Matchups are determined based on a player's record so far during the tournament.
     
  • Track - a series of cards which build on each other, and typically requires they be played in a certain order. Since it requires a lot of time and work to get all of these cards into play, the effects they have once in play is huge. Failsafe and Ascension are two examples of "tracks".
     
  • Trib - 1) the card UN War Crimes Tribunal. 2) on older deck type which includes only mech assets and relies on UN War Crimes Tribunal to remove enemy assets.
     
  • Tuna - an affectionate nickname for Sewer Dolphin, a 1st Edition Rare asset. Also sometimes called Sewer Tuna.
     
  • UC - short for Uncommon.
     
  • UC auction - a type of auction where the auctioneer is asking for players to bid in amounts of Uncommon cards in order to win Rare or Very Rare cards.
     
  • UN - (acronym) the United Nations, one of the Chron X domains.
     
  • Uniform - a representative of GA which includes Jr. and Sr. Guides, Judges and GA employees.
     
  • UNRC Vostok - UN Rehabilitation Center Vostok, a place where misbehaving Chron X players are sent for a period of punishment. During that time period, that player cannot enter (or see) any other chat room, and the only players they may interact with are those who visit UNRC Vostok.
     
  • UNWCT - (acronym) UN War Crimes Tribunal, a 1st Edition Very Rare intervention.
     
  • Vostok - 1) one of the cities of Antarctica. 2) a class of assets (e.g. Vostok Guard). 3) short for UNRC Vostok.
     
  • VR - (acronym) Very Rares.
     
  • WO - (acronym) Whiteout™, a Chron X expansion set.
