We are truly grateful for all the people who worked so hard so that our families and children can come together and enjoy the food, games, rides, entertainment, and fellowship. I thank our chair, festival committee, our staff, booth leaders, parents, teens, volunteers, our school, CCD, & different ministries. The generous sharing of your time, skill, energy, and financial gift make us a strong and vibrant parish. Congratulations to Christian Legaspi, our reigning Festival King, our raffle winners and their sellers: Adrian Quezada (grand prize winner & seller), Marylou Ilisastigui (2nd) with Christian Legaspi as seller, Jovita Penunuri (3rd prize winner & seller). As we approach the Thanksgiving Season we are reminded of the many blessings that God has given us. We saw this in the many gifts that were shared during our festival. As the people of God, we need to be a ‘grateful people.’ We are reminded of this when we celebrate the Eucharist meaning “Thanksgiving.” Gratitude is an attitude of the heart that acknowledges and responds to the good (whether it is our time, health, career, abilities, our children, good friends, faith, etc.) that “Someone” has freely and generously given. You and I know what goodness we have received from God. As a grateful people we are called to respond in kind. We are exhorted in the book of Sirach to “Glorify the Lord generously, and not restrain the first fruits of our hands… to dedicate our tithe with gladness… and give generously as He has given for He repays sevenfold” (Sir 35:8-11). As a parish we have set aside November 19 as Gratitude Sunday. In connection to this, a letter has been sent to you. As we approach this weekend, I invite you to prayerfully reflect as a family what you can financially commit to in your Sunday offering for the coming year, what ministry you can serve, what skills and how much time you can offer to benefit our parish. Just like our festival and our Sunday Eucharist, when we put our many gifts on the ‘table’ good things happen – Christ becomes present, His Body the Church is nourished, formed, and transformed. Ustedes y yo sabemos que cosas buenas hemos recibido de Dios. Como personas agradecidas estamos llamados a responder de alguna manera.
