- Al Lusion pulls a large moose's head out of his hat; this must be an homage to the Rocky

- The Mayor's speech contains quotes from Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream"

- The finale where the Girls start playing music, bringing color back to Townsville,

- The concert at the end of the episode is a parallel to the 1970s animated version of Josie
and the Pussycats. Each Powerpuff Girl plays the same instrument as the
Pussycat with her hair color (Blossom/Josie on lead guitar, Bubbles/Melody on drums, and
Buttercup/Valerie on bass). Also, Buttercup plays a left-handed fiddleback bass à la Paul

Episode #1-12: The Rowdyruff Boys
- Bubbles crashes into the butcher shop and mispronounces the butcher's name, just as Big

barrage" and the screen flashes a big X with a sound reminiscent of the "Street
Fighter Vs. X-Men" video game, where Wolverine's special move is the "berserker
