Everett Norwegian Male Chorus
History
The Everett Norwegian Male Chorus was founded in 1902 to perpetuate Norwegian music and culture, and has been an active chorus ever since. In 1903, we hosted the first Sangerfest of the Pacific Coast Norwegian Singers Association, which also began in 1902. Everett has hosted many annual Sangerfests over the years, including the PCNSA's Centennial Sangerfest in 2002.
We rehearse every Wednesday evening at 7:30, preparing music for our many performances, and we work all year long on the 15 songs for the annual Sangerfest, a three day festival hosted each year by one of the choruses of the PCNSA. Those songs will be performed in the Grand Concert by a chorus of 150 to 200 men from the 12 choruses, Bellingham to San Diego.
Our chorus also performs concerts around the Everett area, sings for community affairs such as Salty sea Days, for morning services at local churches, and at nursing homes and senior centers. We also hosts dinners and picnics, which, of course, include lots of singing.
Some of our singers were born in Norway, many are of Norwegian heritage, some are of Scandinavian, not Norwegian, heritage, some have no Norwegian connection at all. Some speak and read Norwegian, many do not. Some read music, many do not. We're a varied group of men, but we have one thing in common... we love to sing! And we hope you'll join us!
