PROCLAMATION

"GO COLD TURKEY WITH GREENFIELD"

WHEREAS:
This fall is the thirtieth anniversary of the filming of the movie Cold Turkey in Greenfield; and

WHEREAS:
The theme of the movie was to have the entire town of Greenfield (a.k.a., Eagle Rock) give up tobacco for 30 days in order to reap a large reward for the town; and

WHEREAS:
The Surgeon General says that smoking is bad for your health; and

WHEREAS:
There will be a Great Celebration to which we are all invited on September 25, 1999, in Greenfield, with national celebrities and media present;

NOW, THEREFORE:
I, Mayor _________________, of the City of _________________, do hereby proclaim that the thirty days prior to September 25, 1999, shall be "Go Cold Turkey with Greenfield" Days, and do hereby urge all residents of the City of _________________ to join the citizens of Greenfield in their endeavor to "Go Cold Turkey for 30 days" by pledging with them to give up tobacco for that period of time.
