About Newcastle:

Newcastle is a troupe performing traditional English County and Morris Dancing. Newcastle has been performing at the Renaissance Faires of Southern and Northern California since 1974. Newcastle County Dancers has also performed at weddings, business functions such as Hewlett Packard's executive retreat in Northern California and Ma Maison Restaurant in Los Angeles, on television during promotional stops, and many others. Our dancers and musicians have taught Country and Morris dancing at schools and events throughout California and in other states.

Newcastle English Country Dancers are very professional. The dancing is very stylish and exciting for being 400+ years old. Most dances are interpreted from the English Dancing Master written by John Playford in 1651. Newcastle itself consists of about 10 to 30 costumed dancers and musicians. A normal show lasts approximately 1/2 to 1 hour of dancing and acting. Dances are "announced" by improvisational speaking based around the history of the next particular dance. Thereby, giving the audience education as well as entertainment. Our dance list has approximately 12 - 30 County dances and 8 - 15 Morris dances.

Newcastle English Country Dancers and Pipe & Bowl Morris
are available for hire. We are very professional and very funny. We have performed
at Weddings, Parties, Business functions, On television, and Renaissance Faires. We can
appear in full costume or "kit" to fit your needs. Our musicians play a wide variety of
traditional music.
