Personal Assesment; Personal Log of Kiernan O'Connell:
Ireland was beautiful and breathtaking. I was sad to leave it behind. The green of the hills, the blue of the waterbut
we all must move on at some point in our lives. My move came when college arrived.
I knew I always wanted to be a doctor.
My father and mother are both doctors. They practice medicine on Earth. I didnt always have the notion that I wanted to be
in Starfleet. That came later. In fact, it came attached with a fling. I went with him from London to San Francisco. We enrolled
in the Academy together. He was security track, I was medical. Our lives took different paths, and rather than leave, I found
I enjoyed Starfleet. I enjoyed practicing medicine on different anatomies and in different circumstances.
After the
academy I was positioned on the USS Pygmalion as a medical officer. The ship was ravaged by the Dominion war and after a hull
breech in sickbay, causing massive casualties to the medical staff, I was the acting chief medical officer. I guess I did
alright; after all I am now the chief medical officer on a ship.
Professional Assesment of Kieran O'Connell From The Desk Of Captain Kessington, USS Pygmalion:
Doctor OConnell is a professional physician with only the best intentions of his patients on his mind. I had the pleasure
of working with him at Farpoint Station when the Pygmalion was assigned as the diplomatic envoy. The then assistant medical
officer was diligent in his diagnosis and treatment and also a welcome face of kindness to the often stolid and cold bedside
manner of physicians.
Medical Evaluation of Kieran O'Connell From The Desk Of Admiral Chaucer MD. Chief Medical Officer Deep Space 1:
Kieran is a physically fit, happy go lucky guy. He does suffer from a rare genetic disorder that inhibits oxygen uptake
into his body. The prognosis is chronic, though not terminal. The treatment is self administration of a steroidal compound
orally or subcutaneously. The disorder does not provide any physical limitations provided he has taken the steroid.
In the event he does not receive the steroidal compound most commonly Kieran experiences labored and shortness of breath.
He can experience slight vertigo and nausea. In extreme cases, if medical attention is not sought, Kieran can hyperventilate,
experience internal hemorrhaging, lose consciousness, and even die.
While the steroid is easily replicated on most
worlds of the Federation Kieran has taken steps to prevent any absence of a source of the medication. To alleviate the opportunity
of not having access Kieran carries a 2 day supply of the steroid attached to his ankle. On away missions he has been known
to carry a week or more supply.

Doctor OConnell is overall a quiet and introspective physician with a streak of subtle independence. His passion for
practicing medicine has proven that he isnt a wallflower if life or welfare is at stake.
OConnell was able to jump
right into the Pygmalion crew, integrate, and make many friends. He interacts well with patients, seeing to not only their
physical maladies, but also their psychological/emotional needs.
He has no record of psychological disorders or mental
illness.
