James & Myrtle Jenkins

James Franklin Jenkins was born in Brown County, Texas on September 22,
1883. He married Myrtle Bell Esman on June 5, 1904.
Family lore of how James & Myrtle met is that while Myrtle was staying with the Gabberts
to help care for the children after the birth of a new baby, Delia's brother, Jim, came to visit. Delia had a child
in January 1904. Jim and Myrtle were married June 5, 1904. Assuming it was the birth of this child that
prompted Delia to hire some help, it must have been a pretty fast courtship. James and Myrtle were married while
sitting in a carriage in the pouring rain.
James & Myrtle had eight children:
Homer Jenkins (b. 13 Mar 1905 - d. 7 Sep 1965)
Inez Jenkins (b. 31 Jul 1906 - d. 14 Jun 1979)
Lillie Lee Jenkins (b. 21 Mar 1909 - d. 21 Mar 1990)
Vera Crystal Jenkins (b. 27 May 1911 - d. 17 Jul 2000)
Georgie Mae Jenkins (b. 18 Jun 1913 - d. 24 Mar 1998)
Cleo Juanita Jenkins (b. 14 Sep 1915 - d. 29 Apr 1996)
Gertrude Gathelee Jenkins (b. 9 May 1918)
JT Jenkins (b. 9 Jan 1921 - d. 21 Sep 1986)
They had thirty two grandchildren.
