The third annual "Hemet Hoedown" was the "best country show yet," according to many,
and from a technical standpoint, it WAS a very fine show, The show drew a "sold out" audience to the Simpson Center on a very
hot July afternoon.
Danney Ball opened the show with his "Welcome to Hemet," and there were strong performances from the huge
cast, especially Bob Higgins, Gigi St. John, Kat Mendoza, Vince Leone and others. It was the third straight "sell out" for
SOS's country show. A number of people were turned away. SOS employed its new color spotlight for this show. The show
featured in addition to those named, Amy Chambers, Bill Copp, Ed Youngs, Ed Wyatt, Ella Webb, Marilyn Sowinski, Diane Greenfield,
Kathleen Maloney, Jean Obere, Jerry Bennett and Bunny Carchedi.
The show also featured the comedy team of Ed Murray and Marilyn Sowinski in a hilarious skit entitled
"The Stagecoach." The "Hemet Hoedown" is here to stay, Irwin said following the show.
Our first Country Show way back in 2006,
featured many Seniors On Stage regulars as different country "characters." The narrative told the story of country
music from the early days of the Carter family to the present "rockabilly" music. The show drew a capacity audience
at The Simpson Center in Hemet, and regrettably, many people were turned away because of fire regulations.
At our second country show (2007-July 26th), we didn't quite fill the aud (because of an extreme
heat wave) but things were great technically because of Bill Rhoads help with sound. The show ran smoothly and every
performer was in fine fettle. It might have been one of SOS's best shows to date. New performers included Bill Rhoades,
Gary Osko, and Vince Leone.
Now, we approach our third annual Country Clambake entitled "It Don't Mean A Thang If
It Ain't Got That Twang,"
and it will feature many who appeared in the first two shows plus a good many additional performers!!!!

| Ed Wyatt sings "Mountain Dew" |
The reviews of our first two country shows were phenomenal. Which means
that SOS productions are improving year-by-year. Our first country show was described as a "rip-roaring" time.

| Betty Hamm sings "Walkin' After Midnight" |
That's Betty Hamm you are hearing as you peruse this page, singing the Patsy Cline tune
"Walkin' After Midnight."
In the "Salute to Country" show, she portrayed Patsy Montana and Winona Judd, singing
"I Want To Be A Cowboy's Sweetheart," and "101 Reasons."
Kathleen Maloney played Elvis Presley's mother and performed "Love Me Tender"
on the saxophone.
Gigi St. John sang "What Part of No Don't You Understand?" as June Carter, then
came back with a rouser "Honey I'm Home" as Shania Twain.
