Other Notes:Niles has a warhorse of a sort. Actually this is a very confused stallion that formerly belonged to the NYPD mounted patrol. Niles has renamed this horse Destiny and cares for him as best he can.
Appearance: Tall and broad with long dirty blond hair and clear blue eyes and a strong jaw. His body is muscular and hirsute and his back has a crisscrossing net of scars as if from a whip. Niles has very strong presence and a deep commanding voice.
Clothing Tendencies: Niles has never been seen in any thing other than his armor. during the winter he wears a heavy cloak with a hood.
Known to: a very few mages. His name is feared among demons and spirits though
Ongoing Projects: Protect the helpless,overthrow oppressors,stamp out the wicked...you know...the usual.
Circle and Influence: Has some friends among the downtrodden and homeless. Is known to a few prostitutes who can't believe he's for real. Is considered a menace by the police.
House: Used to have an apartment with a young lady who was easily as crazy as he. He speaks of "Lady Penelope" in the past tense though so nobody knows where he lives from night to night. He might camp out under the stars.
Magickal style : Is the sort of marauder that doesn't really realize that he's working "Magick". considers most of his magicks to be a sort of divine blessing.
Story: It was a simple idea. The Society for Creative Anachronism had decided to hold Ren-faire in an old abandoned field. Albert Krantz was a somewhat puffy 14 year old who wandered off to take a leak behind yon tree...the only problem was he wandered into the Shallowing of a nearby Horizon Realm. Some years later, Niles of Goatbridge wandered back out and began to roam a bizarre world not of his making. Albert/Niles became convinced that he is an actual medieval knight sent forward in time to perform services of the Lord's choosing. He is an implacable enemy of spirits and demons of all types. He has wandered out of the night to mete out vengeance to rapist and muggers. His message has even transformed the lives of a few of the homeless. He is virtuous,forthright,noble and totally nuts. In combat he is very steadfast and hard to damage.He will use time 3 to good advantage. He doesn't really consider himself a "mage" as most of those folk are "demon touched." but he might listen to any Celestial Chorus member of Knight Templar that he perceives as a superior.
Story uses:
-Random troublemaker: Niles can be a real pain in the ass to people with any sort of delicate plan in the offing.He has this unhappy knack for wandering into tense situations and making them far worse than they formerly were. add to this his propensity for speechifying and his tendency to not get killed and you have an annoyance that will drive your players to distraction.
-Good hearted lunkhead: After somebody gets to know Niles they realize that he's not necessarily a bad guy it's just that he not really playing with a full deck. compassionate mages who recognize this will try to protect him from his own excesses because eventually he's going to run into something that is going to succeed in reducing him to his component molecules. In this respect he's a lot like Parry in The Fisher King
-Psychotic dependent: Niles occasionally attaches himself to people. Either he will attach himself to somebody who he perceives as being a superior or spiritual leader or he will fall in love with a female character and follow her around like a demented basset hound. Neither situation is very good. He will hang on that person every word and go and do "great works" in that persons name.In this respect, he is to be played a lot like Pepe Le Pew. Pity poor Niles if he ever falls in love with someone who is willing to selfishly use him for their own gain.
