Additonal notes: While Drew is a decent GP and a talented surgeon, his main area of expertise is Pharmacology. This is the field in which he is able to practice superscience.

Equipment: The equipment he uses as Nocturne is able to fit within a standard Attache case. He carries two Nocturne pistols, a gas mask, elbow length rubber gloves, a belt to hold refills and other useful drugs. He also carries 4 smoke grenades.

Appearance/Clothing Tendiencies: in his regular life, he is partial to a fairly sedate wardrobe of a man of means. at the hospital he feels practically naked without his lab coat on and when he out trolling around for trouble as Nocturne he wears a large obscuring black hat, black rubber gloves, a black gas-mask and a large black cloak over a black suit. Drew has green eyes and brown hair which is slightly receeding. He is physically unassuming but very fit.

House,Circle, Influence: Drew has at least 2 people he has confided in about his secret identity. Nurse Deborah Carmichael (who patched him up after being shot for the first time) and his old childhood friend Skip Bainbridge (The Aerosol Can King, who designed the guns. he also has a retired second story man turned house painter as his major contact into the shadowy underworld.

What has gone Before:

Drew has always had something of a martyr complex. His parents are shockingly wealthy and he grew up in the lap of luxury but even at a young age he wrestled with an overactive conscience. He often gave away his toys to less fortunate children and he was constantly sneaky away from home to make new friends outside of the new england old money set. It drove his father to distraction. Of course when he announced that he was going to become a doctor instead of taking over the family business it just about drove his father to apoplexy. Drew's father cut him off without a cent when it came time to leave for college. Drew had anticipated this and had secured an academic scholarship to harvard medical school. His mother was secretly proud if him but dared not go against his father's wishes. the arguement they had before he left for school merely served to harden the resolve of Cavendish Pere and Fils. Drew left home and didn't look back.

Allthough fairly shy and unassuming, Drew was known to be a sharp mind, inquisitive, steadfastly loyal to his friends (at times to his detriment) and fairly iron willed. He found an interest in the fast growing field of Pharmacology was the best use of his talents and pursued that as a possible career for someday in the future. in his first few years of being a doctor, he found that he was drawn to the vigorous stimulation of the Emergency ward. He found his niche in the medical trenches and began to discover that he loved it.

One evening, a bunch of rough looking characters came in demanding care for their boss. it turned out that as soon as one of the nurses blurted out that the patient was none other Boss Grifasi, the rough looking characters took everyone in the ER hostage. Drew had always been a quick thinker and fairly dextrous besides but that night it was if his skills shifted into overdrive. No one had noticed him behind the far curtain when it all came down.

One well shoved gurney, 6 gunshots (all of them misses), one thrown I.V. bottle, and one thrown syringe later , the thugs were on the ground begging for medical attention of their own....which they recieved, right before they were taken to jail.

Drew began to explore his new abilities. he found he had great reflexes and dexterity, he began to sharpen his body with the martial arts adding to his fairly rigorous exercise routine. He began to hear reports of the activities of costumed crimefighters and other such. many of whom had developped odd abilities. Had this happened to him?

Drew took to walking alone at night to try to sort out his thoughts about all this. As occasionally happens, he got mugged. The odd thing was that he had taken away the man's knife and broken his collarbone without really thinking about it. Feeling sorry for the poor man, he hailed a cab and took him to his hospital. The man, who was utterly perplexed by this, began to open up to his doctor/assailant. It turned out that he was second story man down on his luck who was just doing this to pay the bills. Drew extracted a promise from him not to be a criminal anymore and the two became odd friends (largely because Drew didn't call the police.)

Heartened by this turn of events, Drew began to think of crime as an illness of society. One that was hopefully treatable. But there had to be an easier way. As like as not he ended up hurting the criminals too badly for his own conscience to handle. Drew takes his Hippocratic oath very seriously.

It was at this point that he turned to his own knowledge of Pharmacology to help out. allthough a thrown syringe had saved his life once, it was far from a perfect weapon. He came up with the idea of using gloves that were covered in a form of "Contact Depressant" (DMSO and thorazine) Unfortunately this was sloppy, required him to get close, and in one near fatal instance almost put him to sleep when he unthinkingly wipped his hand on his trousers.

He had the right soup, along with a few other drugs that could be useful, he just needed a decent delivery system. He called on an old childhood friend who had inherited his father's business. His years at school learning engineering had given him the idea of using the newfangled aerosol technology for his father's perfume business. Drew approached him about a new project which would stretch his engineering abilities even more.

Skip Bainbridge developped the guns that Drew was to use in his war against crime and oppression. Taking NapTime and SweetDream and his new costume out on the town he began a one man mission to help heal society's ill's without killing the patient...or anybody else for that matter. Evildoers see a flash of cloak, hear a hissing noise, and wake up in jail.

The police are baffled but they honestly aren't interested in chasing down another vigilante since it's become very clear that Nocturne has never killed anybody and probably isn't going to. Police are becoming used to finding sleeping perpetrators on the steps of the police station trussed up like a christmas goose often with a note detailing who the miscreant is, what he did, and the names and numbers of any corroborating witnesses. (Drew tends to be fairly thorough almost to the point of anal retentiveness)

Drew is a decent man with a decent heart who has hungered all his life to do the right thing. He is not a vigilante by avocation but as a means to an end. crime fighting has changed his life in many ways. it's exciting and intellectually stimulating to be sure, but it also has an element of emotional isolation to it as well. Failures are bad, but failures that lead to deaths are the worst. Allthough he eats right and exercises religiously he has started drinking more than he probably should. Deborah is concerned about him.
