The goal for the BB2's is the same as the BB1, but mainly to address the severe amplitude peaks measured in the BB1s. This driver/tweeter combination
accomplished
that. With less than 10 components, the frequency response is better than +/- 2 dB, 140Hz to 20K. And, when when coupled with the SV10 powered subwoofer
that response is extended to 32Hz. These speaker were critiqued at the DIY NE to many favorable comments. One of the suprising aspects is how full and
rich
music sounds. I believe this is due to the full baffle step compensation and the fact that you do not typically expect this type of frequency response
extention
from a box this size. I have purposely relaxed the 2-4KHz treble range, putting this frequency range on the low side of the SPL and this has the effect of
softening
up vocals and allowing some CD's that may otherwise be harsh to be listened to at louder levels without sounding annoying. The sound from these small
boxed
is huge for the size and they can be played at much louder levels than you may think at first glance. All in less than 100 cu. in.! You just can't get a higher
SAF, unless
of course you would be willing to significantly compromise the sound and go with an overrated mass marketed product.
